Synopsis
Logline
Amidst family and financial troubles, a forgotten former child star seeking her true identity is persuaded to reboot her old TV show, but this time as an adult film.
Jiajia was once a beloved child star in a magical kids’ TV show. Now 32, she drifts through life, half-forgotten, half-resisting the roles others keep writing for her. When the show is rebooted without her, she refuses to sign away her image—realizing even nostalgia wants her gone.
After a breakdown at her brother’s wedding, she stumbles into an adult film set and meets Vicky, a chaotic, free-spirited porn actress, and Mike, a philosophical director who insists porn can be political. What begins as curiosity soon turns into participation: Jiajia agrees to star in an erotic version of her childhood show, reclaiming her body and story in the only way she can. The film becomes a viral sensation. But freedom comes at a cost.
Just as she begins to redefine herself, her brother—crushed under debt and shame—accidentally kills Vicky during a manic episode. Grief-stricken and exiled by her family, Jiajia steals Vicky’s ashes and climbs Mount Qilai alone to fulfill a promise they once made: to scatter their bodies where no one can claim them.
